String Thing

ARG! Just when things start getting really busy, George’s Garage closes down. Curses! But it turns out hosting at home is just as good, so we’ve been house-hopping. Meanwhile, we did our Second Annual Yard Sale, and raised a respectable little amount to help send one of our Beloved to the Sock Summit in California. We will all learn many things at her gorgeously-socked feet.

We’re also considering throwing some funds together to get a drum carder for the group to share in a communal, co-op-y way. The pattern book is coming together, and we’ve also picked up some charitable work (hats for chemo patients). Aaaand imagining a possible Fiber Arts Conference in the future….

Just a few of the million things going on….

June found us wandering near and far. For WWKIP Day we ventured forth to Crabtree Lake – waaaay out by Raleigh! – to meet some neighbors and enjoy an afternoon knitting in the park. We went to another ballgame — mini stitch-n-pitchette : 17 men women and children; we didn’t get rained on, and hotdogs were only $1. We didn’t win this time but I don’t think anybody minded. We were very grateful for the awesome goodie bags round 2, too!.

The patterns for the pattern book are rapidly turning into sample hats and socks. A lot of people are working on stuff for Centerfest, but afterwards I’d like to nudge us towards a community service project. It’s been a while! Personally, I prefer to keep it local, but it’s not necessary – I’m open to anything people are enthusiastic about.

And, although this was technically in July, we finally did that beach trip! Juline hosted us on the outer banks. We didn’t take pictures because we were too busy relaxing, but we did have a fabulous time in the local yarn store out there.
