January 2009
Happy New Year! StringThing settled happily at George’s Garage, which turns out to have plenty of room, plenty of wireless, plenty of coffee, etc.
Chinese New Year also inspired a small bunch of us to try setting personal 100-day goals (a tai chi tradition). It’s really encouraging to have a group of friends to help us stick to the promises we make ourselves!
First Annual Post-Holiday Yarn & Craft Swap: We held our yarn swap at the Nasher Museum, and it was *awesome.* Who knew we had such great stuff!?!
Movie Nights: Since it’s cold and dark, we got serious about settling in with some nice long movies, at various people’s houses. We started with the BBC’s Sense and Sensibility, and were completely and wonderfully horrified by the very scary movie Black Sheep. Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere was much less scary. We’ll see if everybody survives the Bollywood day, which is tomorrow (as of this posting).
We have a lot of plans for spring! February promises art gallery exhibits and the beginning stages of our Real Actual Pattern Book.
